Here in Belgium it will be a wonderful long weekend! The weather will be great!!
So I am in the mood for relaxing in our garden !
And…time for a barbecue party!!!
This morning sunshine was early and I couldn’t resist taking some sunny pictures of our garden.
In earlier posts I told you about the landscaping of our garden we started last year and on which we were further working in spring this year.
As you can notice we are not finished yet!!! In the picture above you see the spaces were we have to plant flowers. On the right site I would love to have a lot of old French roses, because roses make me happy! They do! And on the right site, close to the outbuilding I want something else. I am still looking to find the right flowers of plants.
We are so happy with the plane-trees we planted last year. Look at them now! They are still very young but won’t they be beautiful within a few years?
Now you can see where we will spend our weekend.
I asked my friend Trish from TROUVAIS some information about roses because she is a rose lady and she knows a lot about antique French roses. You really should visit her post ANTIQUE FRENCH GARDEN ! Beautiful!
She was so nice mailing me a few of her favorite roses that I posted here beyond.
Thank you so much Trish!
I
Trish her favorite is Madame Isaac Pereire, a pink Bourbon rose from the late 19th century. c. 1881
Madame Ernest Calvat. c.1888
Or white roses as
Tea Noisette Gloire de Dijon. c.1853
Or
Frau Karl Druschki
So I will think about all these beauties and I will post you later about my choice!
Have a wonderful sunny weekend!
xx

Love those trees lined up and they will be magnificent in a few years. Your home is lovely and rose information most useful as I am trying a rose garden this year. Happy palnting! XO
ReplyDeleteHi Greet,
ReplyDeleteYour garden is wonderful. The plane trees are going to be incredible in a couple of years, and I love the symmetry of it all. Trish had some great suggestions for roses. Have fun working in your garden this weekend. It's exactly what I'm going to be doing at our weekend home.
Your house is very beautiful with it's classic proportions. It reminds me of those country estates of the 18th century, where all the parks, we today so enjouy in their maturity, were young. But I guess it all will look differently already in 6-8 years. You are forward thinking!
ReplyDeleteWill you have grass around the trees?
Enjoy your sunny weekend, a BBQ sounds just right! Now I can picture you on your terasse, sipping on a glass of wine with a book or good company!

Your garden is just gorgeous Greet! The roses will just add to the beauty of your home. I adore cutting the roses from our garden and bringing them inside to enjoy.

ReplyDeleteand... i do need help with my roses... so i am off to bend trish's ear... he he...

Beautiful, Greet! Before you know it you'll be able to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor! I love roses, too, and have 6 different ones in my own back garden. They are close to our patio so I get to enjoy them up close.
ReplyDeleteBonjour Greet! Thank you for the mention! One of my favorite books can be viewed online through Gogglebooks: The Rose Bible by Rayford Clayton Reddell. He had a rose ranch in Petaluma, California that I would visit all the time and inspired several rose choices. LOVE those plane trees, love your stone house, your metal windows. Absolutely beautiful, thank you. Have a wonderful weekend. XO Trish
ReplyDeleteDear Greet
ReplyDeleteI just want to tell you that the post on my blog was not quite finished when you left a comment today. But it is finished now.
I can see that your garden will be beautiful - I can not wait much to see it when it grows to.
Many good advice for the garden can be found at http://www.clausdalby.dk/, which is very famous for his garden in Denmark.
Love from Lene
ReplyDeleteFijne Pinksterdagen Greet!
Greet,
ReplyDeleteSo Gorgeous! I love it and am very jealous!
Have a great Weekend!
Christina
Prachtig Greet,
XO Petra
Both your home and garden are just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYes, the garden is young, but that is one of the best parts about it- watching everything grow!
What are you serving for the barbecue? I wonder how it is different in Belgium...
-Ann
Greet my friend, it is so gorgeous I am making serious summersaults!
ReplyDeleteBut I will never dare to share my home after this! (:
Enjoy your weekend in your magnificent garden.

Have a great weekend!
You have a really beautiful house and garden,. Enjoy them this sunny week end.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing space to be able to enjoy outdoors.
ReplyDeleteYou have so many wonderful elements in your garden, that together it makes for a fantastic space! The old roses will be perfect...
ReplyDeleteTerri
Hello my friend, What a pleasure to see more of the outside of your home. It is so huge and stately! I love it, it's such a beautiful place and when you put your roses in it will be all the more beautiful. I love roses, too. Our winter's are harsh, so I need to find a very hardy variety. I love the ones that you pictured here, they are so lovely. Have a great long weekend, we are commemorating Queen Victoria's birthday, that's why we have a long weekend. We are still a Commonwealth Country. How about you, what kind of a holiday is it? Enjoy your gardening!
ReplyDeleteHugs, cindy s
So so so beautiful, Greet! Wishing you a lovely weekend...
ReplyDeletexo,
Sarah
Ooh, what a beautiful house you have! It almost looks like you live in northern Italy. But there it would blend in perfectly and in Belgium it may stick out a bit and people admire it more. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe garden will grow into something pretty, I'm sure and I can't wait to see it. And you're right, roses are gorgeous, you certainly should plant some, I think. :)
Hugs, Bettina.

What a beautiful home and garden! If you are going to be planting roses try to find a Chrysler Imperial. They are a darker magenta/red and they smell heavenly, and you'll enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteChristina
Wow - I can't wait to see how your garden progresses throughout the season!
ReplyDeleteLove the musical touch Greet. It's always a pleasure to visit your blog. Such a beautiful home.
