Our living room-update

Previous weeks I got a lot of emails from readers who were interested in our living room redo and who asked me when I would be able to post some ‘after’ pictures.

The very first post about our living redo dates from January 30th this year (see it here) ! Almost 7 months ago !

We are currently finalizing the decoration of the room. The passed days Jan took care of adding the picture lighting fixtures while I was thinking about the furniture and decorative accessories to bring in.

I have to admit that I am not finished yet with all the decoration of the room. That is why I only have posted a few pictures of the redo so far. More to come within a few days.

2I absolutely wanted to have placed again, the French painted commode, earlier seen in the living room.

This chest is made and finished after an antique piece, in the workshop of our company Lefèvre Interiors.

The patina of the commode looks wonderful with the gray finish we have given the wooden floor. To read more about the floor finish, read my post about it here.

1The decorated French commode against the custom made, bespoke paneling by Lefèvre Interiors. To read more about the paneling, please read my posts here, here, here and here.

3The painting above the commode is of the artist Jean-Marc Louis.

4Decorative accesssories

8  Gateleg table Bie Baert. Antique Italian sconces Garnier Antiques. All seating furniture Lefèvre Interiors.

5Antique French régence walnut chimney piece Cheminées Anciennes Jean Zunino.

7  Seat upholstered with Libeco linen. Balloon shade fabric C&C Milano. To read more about the window treatment, please read my post about it here.

9Antique Italian sconces Garnier Antiques. Window treatment by Patrick Ponseele.

11As you can see here in this picture, the room isn’t finished yet. I am thinking about which fabric to choose for the upholstery of these 2 French 19th century walnut armchairs I found in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (France), a few years ago.

I hope you enjoyed this living room redo update post ! More pictures later!

xx

Greet

  1. It's simply gorgeous, unfinished or not. :-)

  2. It is all looking so beautiful and cozy. I really love those lampshades (like the one on the lamp placed on the French commode) that I see in pictures of Belgian interiors. I tried to find some as close to them as I could here in Texas, resulting in buying the slope lampshades from Restoration Hardware, but they are NOT the same because of their smaller opening on top that gives a slight Asian rice hat look to my lamps. The 19th century walnut chair will be fabulous.

  3. It looks so incredibly beautiful already (and not even done yet!). You must be very proud of your (and your companies) hard work!

  4. It is just stunning. Thanks for sharing. I am curious about whether you will keep the stain on your French chairs or will you give them a grey wash like your beautiful paneling.

  5. Does your linen source sell upholstery weight linen by the yard? I love those chairs awaiting their cushions. And most unforgettable is the vignette you arranged on the chest. Perfection! p.s. I also love the mini-sized aged bricks in your fireplace box. Your room will breathtaking, I am sure.

  8. Bonjour, Greet~
So classy and beautiful! I love the Rococo style boiserie from your company. It frames the Regence mantel perfectly. And I adore your Jean-Marc Louis painting. Jean-Marc always uses beautiful old frames for his paintings.
    Cheers,

  10. Hi Greet,

Thank you, thank you, thank you I have to tell you I have been anticipating how your living room redo was coming along. I gasped out loud when I saw the first picture of the French blue commode and the beautiful pottery that you have on it. I wish this pottery was easier to find here. I think that there is a classical feel to it and one which will never date. I love everything about this room finished or not, you have done such a wonderful job so far. Bravo!

    Take care

  13. So beautiful Greet!! And peaceful--I know I always say that about your home but it is true. It is something that you and Brooke have in common, even if the styles are different.
Will you come back to Provence? Please do!
And I noticed the detail of the coquille sculpted in the wood. I have been told that with the Provençal woodwork of the 17th-19th centuries, that was a symbol regarding the pilgramage to St. Jacques du Compostelle.

  27. Wow! I love the vintage look of your living room. The wooden furniture in particular gave it a chic, vintage French feel, which I'm really a fan of. It looks like one of those expensive classic paintings.
