Some of you will remember some pictures from the orangery at my sister’s home, that I posted some time ago.
My sister wanted to go for a change in the orangery, because she was not so happy with the table you can see in the first pictures here.
So she asked me to look out for an antique table. Last year, when we were driving to the South of France, we made a stop in the charming town of antiques, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. And …there she was,… the table I had in mind !! I took some pictures with my cell phone and sent them immediately to my sister. She loved the table! A few days later the table was delivered in Belgium.
The first 5 pictures are taken a while ago. You will notice the oak table my sister wanted to replace by an antique piece of furniture.

The bleeched oak table is moved into the garden now..
… and is beautifully weathered.
And this is the antique table I found last year at an antiques dealer in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
The table has a teak top and a painted support. Isn’t it a gorgeous one?
Ok, we brought in that table and we both, my sister and I, realized that we also had to replace the chairs! So we did.
My sister has chosen for the French os-de-mouton chairs. They really are better to use here, because the legs of the former chairs were too fragile everytime you moved the chair on the brick floor.
The pictures on below I took last Sunday.
Please, forgive me the quality of my cell phone pictures!!
Because of the bad quality of the pictures, you are not able to see the real color of the upholstery fabric of the chairs.
The fabric is of a celadon colour and matches that well with the colour of the antique cabinet.
I couldn’t resist to post this picture of the beautiful French console at the orangery.
Do you love the changes we made at my sister’s orangery? I am sure my sister will love to read your comments!!
xx

I am pretty sure I love it and I am not sure why I don't have an orangery! Can I ask you though- what is the purpose of the orangery (not hers per say) but in general? We don't really have any thing here in the states that we call an orangery. I need to see if I can make an excuse to have one when we build a custom house one day.. :)
ReplyDeleteBest,
Christina

Stunning!! Every single piece is perfection. I love the old oak table in the garden--I've had my eye out for something like that, myself. The cabinet is a show stopper. Really, really beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
I absolutely love it !
ReplyDeleteThe colors are my favorites so there is nothing wrong with that in my mind and the chairs are wonderful !
I should really find myself an orangerie ..
Greet, for me it was lovely before. Now it's splendid. I know how much she enjoys this light-filled room and I can just see it at Christmas laden with beautiful trays of delicious goodies.
ReplyDeleteI really love the oval shape of the table ends & the reflection of that shape in the chair backs.
xx's
I think I have now seen photos of what my place in heaven will look like! :)
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely!!!
Ruth
Wat een prachtige orangerie, het is er allemaal zo stijlvol! En die raampartijen...om van te dromen!
ReplyDeleteOver een paar weken gaan we op vakantie naar de Provence, wie weet wat ik er allemaal tegen kom!
Hartelijke groet, Ingrid
I loved it before and I love it now! A perfect room anyway - lucky sister of yours!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! Het tafel es echt mooi! Wat een mooie kamer. Je zus is heel veel geluk!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post! Tot ziens!
Hi Greet,
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? I love the changes, but also thought the before pictures were incredible too. That brick floor.....that antique cabinet! Be still my heart! Great idea to move the old table outside. It looks perfect there! I am dying to go back to Isle sur la Sorgue! Isn't it magical there?
Thought it was beautiful the way it was and love it even more now.
ReplyDeleteThat little console table is FABULOUS! What a sweet and elegant little touch to the room.
Greet, I am in love. This is so fabulous, and I adore the cabinet, the chandelier the tables and chairs. You have such a great eye for details!

Thank you so much for you sweet comment. Thank you also for including me on your blog list!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog,
Teresa (Splendid Sass)
What's an orangerie? Anyway, love the new table, specially the details on the legs--it catches the sun nicely and creates lovely textures. The old table was okay, but THIS table has SOUL. The upholstered chairs are a nice contrast, and make the whole setting look more important, but still relaxed. I love the room to begin with. The stone floors are unusual (for us), and the casual "antiquey" look is very cozy and appealing. I wish I could "order" something from the puce just like that too! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHallo Greet,
Groetjes Petra
I loved the Orangery before, but I must admit I love it even more now! Fabulous table and I like that she was still able to use her old table in a new location. It looks like great taste runs in the family.
ReplyDelete~jermaine~
When I saw the first pictures, I wondered why change it - it looks perfect? Then I saw the other table and wow, it's stunning. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted an orangerie and a loggia. Oh well, we'll enjoy them through you!
-Ann
I am in love! Both looks are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWow Greet, seems taste and style comes so naturally to you and your family. This is really stunning...really just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine lots of family dinners around that large table :)
Best,
Michelle
Stunning room. Love the table. Sorry, don't care for the chairs.
ReplyDeleteSuch perfection, Greet. Pure beauty. Love every photo (of course the console, the touch of blue, the palladian windows, the cobbled floor...). Thank you! XO Trish
ReplyDeleteI like the new chairs; it's not a design I have ever seen before and they do look much sturdier. Despite living in a place where we don't need them, I DO know an orangery is a place where you put your potted orange-trees, when it is too cold for them outside.
ReplyDeleteI have a different question: how do you insulate and heat your houses without using a lot of energy?
Greet: I'm not sure I have ever commented before, but I have been reading your blog for quite some time. I had bought a Belgium street lantern before I started reading your blog, but you inspired me to retrofit it and make a chandelier out of it. Your blog gave me vision for it. It is one of my favorite things! The orangery is fabulous, and I especially love the brick floors. I live in Texas, so the wonderful European things you show are such a treat! Thanks for sharing and for the inspirational blogs you continue to post. I shall continue to follow!
ReplyDeleteI simply want it all....
ReplyDeleteluckily my house is a very modern so I may be saved ...on the other hand I have been contemplating a gorgeous big bamboo table for my outdoor eating area ...oops here goes!
It is a brilliantly decorated space.
Greet - this is absolutely stunning - gorgeous - i can't say enough about your work - fabulous - beautiful -
ReplyDelete(I am so green with envy that you have all this talent!!!!!) :)
Greet, It was wonderful before and really over the top now. I love the new table and the old table looks fabulous in the garden. I've always loved that style chair, and they are comfortable as well. It's all so beautiful but I'm just dying over those windows and gorgeous chandelier. The whole room is incredibly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreet, your sister's house looks fabulous and the new table surely makes a big statement. As Joni said...gorgeous, just gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteOooops...where is my head?
ReplyDeleteYou are two very talented sisters! Wherever I go in your homes - I see beauty, great taste & style and warm, inviting rooms!

I need to live in an orangery, do we even have those in the US? I love the changes your sister made and really for the better. That table you found for her is amazing and I love her console. Could we see more pictures of her home please? So far it’s stunning! Thank you for sharing and thank you to your sister for letting you share with all of us!

Trés jolie! Love everything, especially the soft hints of blue, and the chandelier. Dying!
ReplyDeleteI do love the changes that you've made. Both of the tables are very unique and beautiful as well as both sets of chairs. I have never seen a table like the new one, very, very beautiful. I love the color of her new chair upholstery and the fact that it matches her china cabinet. Her dining room is beyond gorgeous!!! Thank you for the chance to see this lovely dining room.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy S
hi greet,
ReplyDeletei just found your beautiful blog through slim paley. i think this is one of the most beautiful rooms i've ever seen. that chandelier! everything is just beautiful, beautiful and i love, love it all.
~janet
Beautiful does not even begin to explain how incredible this space is... I am overwhelmed. It is jaw–dropping. Thank you so much for sharing this -- your sister is very lucky, and as always, you inspire us :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you a fantastic weekend,
xoxo
I love the small stone sink - very authentic to an orangerie. That exquisite chandelier against the backdrop of that powerful ceiling is stunning. I might store the old chairs and only bring them back as needed. One day 2 all linen arm chairs at the heads of the table would look great and place the 2 extra Mouton chairs on either side of the beautiful cabinet.Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreet,
ReplyDeleteI love the changes. The table has such great patina and I love love love the chandelier, gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.
My eyes were fixated on the marvelous chandelier, & brick floors. That is all I could concentrate on! I did love the room before but the new changes are so beautiful. Truly a spectacular orangery. Truly a joy to view ~
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful--I was completely transported!
ReplyDeleteThere is so much beauty in this post!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning, Greet!
ReplyDeleteI want that gorgeous table!
Beautiful....

I read this blog briefly when you first posted. I have been so busy with a project that I'm working on that I didn't get a chance to really look at it as much as I wanted to... it is really beautiful! The room was gorgeous before... but the new table sets the room apart and makes it really special! Your work is beautiful! ~Terri
ReplyDeleteGreet !
ReplyDeleteL'orangerie de votre soeur est très sympathique ! et plus encore avec l'ancienne table de L'Ile -sur -la- Sorgue !
Céline.
I feel like crying.... literally ! you are so talented, that table is a dream come true!
ReplyDeleteAmazing post. Very well represented. That table is really beautiful and unique one. Orangery
ReplyDeleteGreet,
ReplyDeleteI know this is an older post but I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated seeing your work. This room is so beautiful! Like many others I found it to be beautiful in the "before" photos but ithe changes made it just stunning!
Can you tell me the approximate dimensions of that room, and also the dimensions of the table? Thank you again for sharing your inspiring work!
