This weekend we had some friends coming over and I always love to redecorate our home, bringing just a few small changes into the house.
In the sitting room I placed this green linen upholstered bench in front of the door towards the garden.
On the coffee table of the orangery I added a wooden bowl with bunches of grapes of our own grapevine.
Fall display on the kitchen cabinet.
A bunch of green dates on the coffee table of the living room.
I snapped this picture of Jan lighting the fireplace, before guests arrived.
And Jan snapped this picture of me putting final touches on the decoration.
Finally we were ready to welcome our guests.
Apero time with animated conversations.
One of our guests, was Peter van Cronenburg and his lovely wife Régine. Peter and Régine are the owners of VAN CRONENBURG ARCHITECTURAL HARDWARE, a Belgian company that delivers high-quality hand-made architectural hardware and of which I posted earlier here and here.
Me in conversation with Peter and Régine.
Time goes by so quickly being accompanied by lovely people and having animated conversations.
I do hope that all our guests enjoyed the evening as much as Jan and me did.
It was a pleasure for us to have them at our table.
How was your weekend?
xx

Darling Greet, your home quite frankly, looks a bit like mine...but there are a few differences. YOU HAVE JUST INSPIRED ME to simply rearrange some things and you know what? Our home will almost be identical! LOVE LOVE LOVE your post! Anita
ReplyDeleteAbsouletely fabulous! You are an amazingly talented designer and should be so very proud of your home!
ReplyDeleteoh how I enjoy seeing all your neutrals. thanks for the little peek into your home, greet. donna
ReplyDeleteGreet, you are a pearl among the pearls, and with Jan, you form a wonderfully sensitive and generous couple. Peter and I have spend an evening to remember and cherish - every detail was so subtly arranged and a joy for all senses... (I think doggie Ralph will agree) your house had a fantastic autumn atmoshere and it is with a warm feeling that we look at the pictures. What a joy to have you as friends and share our mutual love for crafsmanship together. XXX Peter and Régine

Superbe Greet !
ReplyDeleteTout avait l'air parfait à cette soirée ! Merci pour ces photos de chez vous, cela me fait plaisir de les voir.
Bonne semaine,
Céline.
Hi Greet,
ReplyDeleteEverything looks wonderfully autumnal and the fire on the hearth was the topper. Also love your dining room table scape - it could be in a magazine (or a blog). What is it about red dining rooms that make them sooo inviting? Maybe it's even the red-ish light thrown from a fireplace that makes that room so inviting. Whatever - it all looked lovely. You remain one of my inspirations.
xo,

ReplyDeleteHello from Canada! I love your blog and have been following for almost a year now; and as much as I enjoy the professional information, I especially love your personal insights. Your home is a beautiful back-drop to a rich and inspiring life. Thank you for sharing this with us. PS. Where did you find your napkin holders? If you remember, I too am an equestrian(coming to it late in life;), and I would love to find similar for my table! All the best, Brenda.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your share.
ReplyDeleteYou made really good points in your post.
I found your post interesting and a great read.
I also think it's important to have nice engraved awards so you can keep all your special moments safe.
Well, thanks for your time!
I look forward to reading more posts! :)
Lovely touches, Greet! You remind me that Sally and I should entertain more frequently!!! The warmth of the candles and the cozy setting of your red dining room - delightful!!!
ReplyDeleteSally and I spent our weekend hosting a kitchen we designed on a kitchen tour, then hosted a small cocktail party for our client and their guests in their house. It was a perfect way to end the day! Sunday was spent working on a new project we have. Two bathrooms are to be renovated and the entire downstairs is to be redone.
By the way, do you happen to make wine for your grapes?
Cheers,
John
What a wonderful home you have Greet and it looks like your guests had an amazing evening. I love the large grape display!

Greet,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely home you have and the candlelight made everything seem magical and welcoming. We enjoyed dinner at a friend's house with 3 other couples Saturday night and it was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoy comfortable meals at our home or the home of good friends. Your dinner looked like fun.
Enjoy your week.

Greet..this post is BREATHTAKING!! How lucky your guests were to be treated like royalty. There is nothing like entertaining at home, it is the ultimate and with a gracious host and hostess like you and Jan, it simply does not get better!! I love every one of your beautiful touches and as someone who loves to entertain and get things "pretty" I ate this up!!!! Hope you had a wonderful time, thanks so much for sharing the beautiful eye candy!!
ReplyDeleteQue jantar magnifico. A mesa estava muito chique, amei a iluminação. Parabéns uma linda festa.

Hello my lovely friend!
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful - all of it! You have such a great eye for detail and I just love the look of all 'natural elements' you have brought inside. The dates, the grapes (love the leaves still attached!)
I too adore nature and have brought in pine cones, branches with dried up leaves (so stunning in my mind), apples, plums and pears from the garden. Autumn is a lovey time of the year isn't it!
I am not so frequent in the blogging world since a while back. Life is simply too busy but I do pop in and read my favourite blogs from time to time, and I always think of my good friends. xx
Have a wonderful continuation to Autumn. I hope your dinner party was a success and that you continue to share and inspire us.
Big warm hugs from Sweden
x Charlotta
Het ziet er allemaal erg gezellig uit. Met een beetje spijt moet een mens afscheid nemen van de zomer en het buitenleven, maar met een kleine effort kan het binnen ook zeer plezant zijn ! kusjes XXX
ReplyDeleteDear Greet,
ReplyDeleteThe seasonal touches that you added look so pretty; grapes and green dates...how lovely! And, there is nothing quite as special as Belgian cuisine and conversation! I am sure that you, Jan, and your guests had a memorable time~thank you so much for sharing.
Warm regards,
Lisa

How beautiful and warm your home is this autumn! And such a treat to see a photo of you in action! (You look stunning.) Thank you for the refreshing reminder that simply bringing in greenery (or grapes) from the garden and adding candlelight can transform the look of a room.
