Weekend reflection

 

This weekend we had some friends coming over and I always love to redecorate our home, bringing just a few small changes into the house.

DSC_0031In the sitting room I placed this green linen upholstered bench in front of the door towards the garden.

 

DSC_0006On the coffee table of the orangery I added a wooden bowl with bunches of grapes of our own grapevine.

One of our guests, was Peter van Cronenburg and his lovely wife Régine. Peter and Régine are the owners of VAN CRONENBURG ARCHITECTURAL HARDWARE, a Belgian company that delivers high-quality hand-made architectural hardware and of which I posted earlier here and here.

Time goes by so quickly being accompanied by lovely people and having animated conversations.

I do hope that all our guests enjoyed the evening as much as Jan and me did.

It was a pleasure for us to have them at our table.

    Greet, you are a pearl among the pearls, and with Jan, you form a wonderfully sensitive and generous couple. Peter and I have spend an evening to remember and cherish - every detail was so subtly arranged and a joy for all senses... (I think doggie Ralph will agree) your house had a fantastic autumn atmoshere and it is with a warm feeling that we look at the pictures.     Everything looks wonderfully autumnal and the fire on the hearth was the topper. Also love your dining room table scape - it could be in a magazine (or a blog). What is it about red dining rooms that make them sooo inviting? Maybe it's even the red-ish light thrown from a fireplace that makes that room so inviting. Whatever - it all looked lovely. You remain one of my inspirations.

  18. Lovely touches, Greet! You remind me that Sally and I should entertain more frequently!!! The warmth of the candles and the cozy setting of your red dining room - delightful!!!

    Sally and I spent our weekend hosting a kitchen we designed on a kitchen tour, then hosted a small cocktail party for our client and their guests in their house. It was a perfect way to end the day! Sunday was spent working on a new project we have. Two bathrooms are to be renovated and the entire downstairs is to be redone.

    By the way, do you happen to make wine for your grapes?

    What a lovely home you have and the candlelight made everything seem magical and welcoming. We enjoyed dinner at a friend's house with 3 other couples Saturday night and it was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoy comfortable meals at our home or the home of good friends. Your dinner looked like fun.

There is nothing like entertaining at home, it is the ultimate and with a gracious host and hostess like you and Jan, it simply does not get better!!     It looks beautiful - all of it! You have such a great eye for detail and I just love the look of all 'natural elements' you have brought inside. The dates, the grapes (love the leaves still attached!)
    I too adore nature and have brought in pine cones, branches with dried up leaves (so stunning in my mind), apples, plums and pears from the garden. Autumn is a lovey time of the year isn't it!

    I am not so frequent in the blogging world since a while back. Life is simply too busy but I do pop in and read my favourite blogs from time to time, and I always think of my good friends. xx
