One of my preferred pieces of furniture is an Italian cassapanca.
I love the decorative painted ones!
Most of the benches are large sized and the seat is used as a chest, a storage seat.
They are highly decorated and were generally placed by pair in a hall.

Even if the cassapanca is not painted, it remains a beauty.

Hi, Greet -
ReplyDeleteReally divine! They must be quite rare. I've not seen an antique cassapanca for sale before. Perhaps I'll have luck at Maastricht or Olympia.....even if just to admire only. One can dream ~ xo, Loi
I truly enjoyed this post! Each bench more beautiful than the last!
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to bring this to us.

Oh Greet !
Beautiful post...
ReplyDeleteI was not familiar with these benches, Greet. Thank you!! Fascinating how much they very in their decor and style - from the rugged unfinished one to the spectacular painted ones. You have given me an idea for a foyer we are working on. I wonder if I can convince them to let me design one for them. I know the perfect decorative painter to complete it.

I didn't know what they were called, thanks for sharing! Beautiful pieces but hard to find I guess.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!
Bellissime!
ReplyDeleteI haven't even come across one except in photos. Now I have something to keep an eye open for at the fairs.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post Greet!
this is my first introduction to a cassapanca, greet! just beautiful and so functional.
ReplyDeletehope this finds you well. i have survived my first paris trip and am ready to return since i now have many more questions than answers!
smiles to you.

I had never heard of cassapanca before, so thank you for the education! Beautiful pieces Greet.
ReplyDeleteI have never had anyone in the US mention a cassapanca! My parents have one that came with their apt in Venice. It is quite small compared to what you normally see and is painted similarly to the one you have featured here by Garnier Antiques. The paint is rather faded. It is in the tight entry. We keep our umbrellas in the storage seat!
ReplyDeleteWe don’t own, but would like to :). Yes, it's a fantastic piece of furniture. All are beautiful, but first one is the most.
ReplyDeleteRegards. Joanna and Jola
I just love everything Italian, cassapanca included

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, GREET! Tina over at The Enchanted Home has also shared some Italian kitchen appliances that will make anyone drool with envy! LOVELY here as always, Anita

My favourite is the unpainted one! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing ....very informative blog
ReplyDeleteGreet,
ReplyDeleteI don't believe I've ever seen an Italian cassapanca in person, only in magazines and books. The Lars Bolander example is stunning, but I even love the simple, unpainted bench from David Michael Miller Associates. What an interesting and informative post, thank you.

Peças maravilhosas embelezam uma casa. Tudo muito lindo.
ReplyDeleteEu ainda não encontrei uma cassapanca italiana.
Tenha uma ótima semana.

ReplyDeleteThey are true beauties! I wish I owned one but sadly don't... And if you think they are not affordable((: then I surely won't have one any time soon. ... I don't even know where to get one.. The antiques you featured in ur previous post are gorgeous but have not heard from them back so I assume even they don't ship to canada(:

ReplyDeleteI would love to have one!
The cassapanca in the Bolander's foyer is stunning, the perfect piece to greet a guest when they enter the house.
