Horses do my heart beat faster. I can’t help! I am crazy about them.
What is cuter than a horsy nose?
Or more expressive than a horse’s eye?
And what is more adorable than a mare with her foal?
I am crazy about my sweet mare Mango!
We both know each other already very well since I obtained Mango last year.
I love watching her galloping in the grassland.
This picture was taken a few weeks ago, one of the first days of spring. She really felt spring tickles!
And yes I try to ride Mango as much as possible. It is not only the most wonderful way to relax, riding Mango and taking care of her, gives me tons of energy!
The passed days I tried to take some good pictures of Mango to send to my friend Céline, the author of the blog Céline Chollet Aquarelles. Céline is a very talented aquarellist. She posted earlier on her blog about the aquarelle she made of my home (here). So now I would love to ask Céline to make an aquarelle of Mango!
Here are some of Céline’s aquarelles of horses.

Aren’t they beautiful?
If you don’t know Céline’s blog yet, you really should visit Céline at Céline Chollet Aquarelles.
Preparing this post, I filed lots of images. I really could go on posting wonderful images of horses or images of all things equestrian. I had to make a choice between the filed ones.
There is so much to tell about horses as all horse lovers will know. And if you love horses you definitely will surround you by all things equestrian.
I can’t wait to receive these saddle napkin rings I ordered at my friend Tina of the blog The Enchanted Home. Tina opened an online store where you can find the most gorgeous accessories for the home : The Enchanted Home Shop.

The interior designer Mira of the Belgian company Country House had a brilliant idea!
For her clients who are big horse lovers, she turned on an old barn into a livable space, abling man and horse to enjoy each others company in a cosy setting!

And why not having a party at the stables?
‘Chosen by a Horse’ is the title of the book that I am reading these days. Although I haven’t finished it yet, I can tell you so far that it is a wonderful book and a heartbreaking story!
Cover ‘Chosen by a Horse’ by Susan Richards Soho Press, Inc.
‘The horse Susan Richards chose for rescue wouldn’t be corralled into her waiting trailer. Instead Lay Me Down, a former racehorse with a foal close on her heels, walked right up that ramp and into Susan’s life. This gentle creature—malnourished, plagued by pneumonia and an eye infection—had endured a rough road, but somehow her heart was still open and generous. It seemed fated that she would come into Susan’s paddock and teach her how to embrace the joys of life despite the dangers of living.’
An elegant and often heartbreaking tale filled with animal characters as complicated and lively as their human counterparts, this is an inspiring story of courage and hope and the ways in which all love—even an animal’s—has the power to heal.
And finally, I love to share with you a beautiful horse poem.
My Silent Teacher
(Submitted by: Chris Riley)
Lowers his head when I put on the bridle
He is always going the extra mile
Telling me what to do without speaking a word
We unite like part of the herd
My guardian angel never lets me get hurt
Finding a soft spot for me to land in the dirt
No matter what my instructor thinks of my ride
He always is holding his head up high filled with pride
Grooming his coat until it glistens and it shines
Taking care of him as if he were mine
He never gets mad at me no matter the error
Never over reacting to my fears and my terror
Guiding me over jump courses
Soaring with wings
My silent teacher shows me marvelous things
Giving me gifts only magic could bring
My little warrior never taking a break
Teaching me to ride as long as it takes
(The Horse Lover’s Corral)
Mango and me wish you all a sunny and wonderful weekend!
xx

Oh Greet,
ReplyDeleteYou know, I just am passionate about horses and this post just tugs at my heart. You are so lovely and Mango is the prettiest horse. Together, you look magnificent and I am tickled myself to see you because the LOVE just shines! Horses have a very special place in my heart and I often post them on my posts. Please stop by to see my MOTHERS' DAY POST called, I AM MY MOTHER'S DAUGHTER. There you will see two stunning pictures of white horses. This artist, Céline...oh là là, elle est super! I SO LOVE the aquarelle she did of your LOVELY HOME!!! And these photos, especially the NOSES, THE EYE, YOU and that fabulous barn with the horse and human spending time together! I ALWAYS WONDERED how someone could figure out a way to have a horse in the house!!!
This was a beautiful post. Oh please come see my Mother's Day post!
BISOUS! Anita
Greet what an AMAZING POST!!!!!! Wow like you I love horses too and have always had a thing for anything equetrian. Just love it! I also rode which I told you until I was around 18, and the days of owning my own horse, riding, even stable duty were perhaps the most wonderful memories of my childhood. I would love to own a horse again, Mango is beautiful and I can see you two are great companions. You expressed the equestrian lifestyle so beautifully here, this is a post worht saving! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteOh Greet what a beautiful post! I too absolutely adore horses, although alas I don't ride any more! My 8 year old twin girls are riding now, and they have both fallen head over heels in love with all things equestrian. I am so enjoying reliving my childhood love of horses through them. Reading this post was a pleasure. You - by the way - are simply stunning, and Mango is absolutely divine!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes from England!

I've always loved horses since I was a young girl. It's still my dream to own my own one day! Lovely post. Have a wonderful day, Greet! xoxo Amnah from Malaysia
ReplyDeleteFor years I competed in the ring then we bred Australian ponies and then I judged them and now I just wait for someone I admire to write a post like this and then I am young once more!!!!!! Beautiful every word and image!! xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post, Greet. Horses are the most beautiful animal. My sister always had a horse as a pet, and we loved to watch her ride. I think I will add a horse to my bucket list!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
Teresa

I have loved horses all my life, since my grandfather took me for a ride with him when I was about 4 years old.
ReplyDeleteImagine my delight when moving to Buenos Aires, seeing world class horses and riders all the time.
Even the park police ride exceptional mounts !
Your Mango is a beauty .. besitos, C
Oh Greet! I know that you will understand (and anyone that hasn't had horses might not) but I have tears in my eyes--that poem! This post is so beautiful and thank you because I have been hoping for an update on Mango for a while now. That last photo is just so fantastic. The complicity between you two is so lovely to see. But I loved all of it--I am sure that you know that I did!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful weekend full of sun and more sweet grass for Mango to much on,
Gros bisous,
Heather
I love horses and I really enjoyed this post. We made an offer on a house out here with stalls and acerage but, the home was going into foreclosure and things didn't work out. Maybe one day we will own our dream ranch! Thanks for sharing Mango with us.;-)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend Greet!
Heather
Thanks for the lovely post, Greet! Those horse barns designed for people as well are such a fun idea and beautiful too!
ReplyDeleteA happy weekend to you too!
You and Mago look so beautiful together Greet! I adore watching horses...........riding them, not so much. I wish I was braver but I love reading your post and admire your most lovely hobby. Happy weekend. XO
ReplyDeleteGreet, you brought out the essence that is the love of horses. As I read your post I could almost feel how full your heart for Mango and horses. It may be hard for some to understand that you ride 'with a horse' not 'on the horse'. Enjoy every moment with Mango.
ReplyDeleteSuch a magnificent animal. I used to ride as a kid, a still do when I have the opportunity. There's something about a young girl and her horse :) The first image is the perfect equestrian style and I just love it. BEAUTIFUL post!
ReplyDeleteleslie
I have goosebumps! Such a heart warming post! You have such love and passion for your Mango! I hope your are together for many years!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
John
Greet, I love these photos! I grew up with horses, during my college years I worked in a barn, and my daughters ride now. It is a wonderful pastime - both the riding and the physical work involved with caring for horses - good for the heart, mind and body. Have a wonderful weekend! All best, Phyllis
ReplyDeleteEvery picture gives me serious butterflies! I've adored horses all my life!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post!

Dag Greet,
Lieve groet,
Liliane
Greet,
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat to learn about what makes your heart complete. Lovely post and you've given us a lot to read and come back to as well. Thanks for sharing the many resources of friends and blogs we may no have know about. This was a special post indeed so glad I stopped by.

ReplyDeleteEen heel fijn weekend! Lieve groet, Ingrid
You've convinced me Greet.......I'm going out to buy myself some jodphurs tomorrow!!....really loved this post..and I can see why you love Mango so much. A bientot.

ReplyDeleteI love horses & enjoyed this post so much,
I never get tired of reading about horses & you presented this one so beautifully.
Thank you from Aussie girl down under.
You captured the essence of horse! I still ride at every chance, not often enought! I ve always wanted a horse of my own. And a barn. Have you ever seen images of Martha Steward's barn? I could live in it.
ReplyDeleteThe equestrian style is marvelous and elegant, you look so beautiful and trully happy and that love shines from your eyes in the last photo! (:
ReplyDeletevery sweet post and poem! and if you ever want to see too many horsed in the open air shows and streets and everywhere, Calgary's version of the equestrian is "cowboy chic" and our Stampede is coming up in July and you are welcome to stay with us ((: and enjoy it! xo Z
Dear Greet .... how beautiful and how gorgeous is the photo of you and Mango! I love horses as well and they are the most elegant and noble looking of animals. Hi Greet, from Canada! I have been following your blog for about 6 months and enjoy all that you offer. I especially like to hear about your personal pursuits...home, family and horses. I too, came to riding later in life, and am very fortunate to have them with me. You may like to see a couple of recent blog posts that I did ( one from today, and one from May12th). You will enjoy the photography and whimsy of owning a horse. Be well, thank you for your thoughtful blog. Brenda.
ReplyDeleteOh dearest Greet and Mango, you are both so gorgeous!!!!!! I adore this post Greet, there's something about horses and their world that is so 'at home', (I love the smell of them too) - fabulous!!!!!!!!!! I once heard them described as overgrown cats - curious about and scared of absolutely everything! Hugs from this old farmhouse in England - Glenda
ReplyDeleteI love horses! They are adorable!!!And handsome!
