The use of sliding doors could be a good solution for a possible lack of space in your home and barn sliding doors add a rustic touch to your home.

I love all versions of these. Used appropriately, they are a great look and space savers!! I have several pocket doors in my house and I love the rustic barn doors but you have to be careful that they fit aesthetically and not just following a trend!!
ReplyDeleteGreet, I love this post today!

What a charming post dahhling... Of course I love the doors from your design firm the best because they are so formal & chic. Here in our petit Garden many houses have them but we call them: "pocket doors"...
ReplyDeleteGreet !
ReplyDeleteC'est beau des portes coulissantes anciennes ! Non je n'en ai pas chez moi, mais ça doit être bien pratique parfois....
These are so charming. Some look aged and some look new. Love this post. xo Jenny

Bisous Greet...
I have been considering putting doors like this between the breakfast are and the great room. My favorites are the one you chose and the doors with the green patina.

ReplyDeleteMade me think of one of my other favorite blogs, For the love of a house. She does a great sliding door in their barn bathroom - http://fortheloveofahouse.blogspot.com/search/label/barn%20half%20bath
ReplyDeleteLove reading your gorgeous blog each day!! Thank you!
Greet, I loved those from your company. I have to admit that the barn doors are just too trendy for me personally--although with images like these I could change my mind. :) When I was little, we lived for awhile in a big Victorian house--it was so beautiful! There were giant oak doors that slid to close off the "parlour" from the formal living room. We would have our Christmas morning celebrations in there and you can imagine the excitement when my Dad would roll back the doors to show us what Santa had left us! Happy memories...
ReplyDeleteBisous (et pour Mango aussi),

Lovely examples of great sliding doors Greet~i would love to have a home that called for one.
ReplyDeleteI love sliding doors and I have used them at times when possible. In a classic house I prefer the ones disappearing in the wall but I also love the more rustic ones in the right interiors.
ReplyDeleteBeste Greet,
ReplyDeleteI love sliding doors, they don't use much space and you can separate or connect two rooms. In our telly room we have them between the kitchen. Instead of me jelling to our daughters, "close the door", they do it to me while watching telly.
Thank you so much for all your lovely blogs, I enjoy them every time.
Warm greetings, Wilma
OH DEAR. Out of all the fabulous photos, YOUR DESIGN IS MY FAVORITE! I have French doors throughout the house, but these doors of YOURS are a must!!!! Anita
ReplyDeleteLove the looks of the sliding doors and would love to use them somewhere. My husband is actually trying to figure out how we can use them into our laundry room. They seem to go with almost every decor, they're wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're doing well!

I have been seeing this in more and more homes and since we might be shopping for a new home some day ... I have started a file of things I want . The sliding "french doors" really appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteAll of the doors in my home are French doors but I never thought of them for sliding .. brilliant :)
The last image is my favorite! My favorite way to see sliding doors-- in a wall pocket! Beautiful-- all of them!

Funny I have never been a huge fan but presented like you did, you have won me over. They are great space savers and in the right space they can be a very practical choice....like pocket doors the best. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteHello dear friend,
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right, sliding doors and especially sliding barn doors look fabulous! I would use them if I had a place for them. But, alas I do not.:)

I love these sliding doors you posted. I used one in my home, but haven't made a post on it. You just gave me an idea! What I'd like to know is where do you source those exposed rails for the doors? I don't know what they are called, so I've never found them locally.
ReplyDeleteThe most delightful examples! I love the sliding French doors, we had them in the apartment, where I grew up in Dresden! A grand old art nouveau building.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the memories your post brought!
Those are lovely homes with wonderful sliding doors. Really like the last photo.

Hi my dear friend. I have recovered from my whirlwind trip to Stockholm and I am starting my blog hopping - here.
ReplyDeleteA sliding barn door is SO on my wish list for my next (dream!) home. Love the look and feel.
I think I need to put this entire post into my own Pinterest image base!
Happy weekend to you and your family.

Yes, I think that they can be used in many homes. It looks great ! Maybe I will think of having some ? :)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend !

Greet,
ReplyDeleteAlthough I do not have any of these types of doors, I am saving the images as I would love to incorporate into our future home!
I also like the idea of books in the dining room...my next home will not have formal dining, but I can see lovely millwork with ample space for books!
Xo
Greet,
ReplyDeleteOf course yours and the sliding French doors are my favorite. The barn doors, while good looking, are not appropriate for my home. I have many sliding doors here. In a recent remodel, I chose sliding French doors with sand blasted glass inserts. It is great for a small space where you want privacy and transmittal of light.
All the best...Victoria
Nice. I think sliding doors are becoming increasingly popular nowadays. I guess this explains it. These doors are gorgeous. I agree with you that sliding doors give more space to the house. They do not require room to swing open and they actually take up less space than the usual doors. It also creates an illusion of a bigger and brighter room. These are lovely! My eyes are having a good time looking at all of these.

There are really many composite styles of sliding doors today that can give a room a new and very stylish look. It is ideal in areas with a restrictive moving area and where space is really necessary.
ReplyDeleteyes agree with you and sliding door is reliable even i also like it, recently i make house and i purchases few doors and its which of one great. this
Deletethis true and how awesome design of door, touching to my heart
DeleteThe idea of sliding doors has been around for such a long time now. What’s nice is that even with all the improvements, sliding door technology continues to move forward, as we can expect new trends every now and then. Definitely, we’ll be seeing it being used in more resourceful applications in the future.
ReplyDeleteGenerally speaking, door hardware presupposes the hardware that is necessary for making your door operate in a proper way. So, door hardware includes door knobs or handles, the lock, and hinges.
ReplyDeleteThose are some amazing looking doors! I especially like the barn inspired doors. They made the room look more welcoming and cozy. Plus, the fading color works well with all the furniture and even the wall. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteAfter deciding on the type of hardware finish it's advised to select the functionality of the door knobs which should be made for each separate room. In this way, it's better to use a privacy lock in the bathroom and bedroom to make the people living in this room able to lock the door whenever they need it.
