I really don’t know why, but lately my eyes are drawn to every picture where is shown a touch of violet.
It seems that depending on your mood, you will be attracted to a particular color. I have read somewhere that violet is stimulating the creativity.
Violet represents spirituality, harmony and peace!
Is it because of having a peaceful mood that I am attracted to every touch of violet or is it the color itself that makes me feel peaceful???
Anyway, I would love to share some of my latest favorite images. Maybe they even slip you into a peaceful mood!

Hello Greet,
ReplyDeletelove violet and lavender too...colors that are so pretty and peaceful...beautiful images..love the velvet chair..and the single candle and holder is beautiful in it's simplicity..

Fabulous, actually I find it a very sensual indulgent colour too somehow! It's the one colour that I can imagine the fragrance of violets when I see it! Divine images as usual Greet and that first of the chair is stunning! Hugs from an old farmhouse in England - Glenda xxx
ReplyDeleteGreet,
ReplyDeleteThis post is stunning. When I was a teenager, my bedroom was lavender. I have always loved it beautiful calmness and beauty.
By the way, I have post a home designed by a Belgian designer.
Have a wonderful day!

It is reminiscent of the lavender growing in my garden. It never fails to soothe.
ReplyDeleteThe faded beauty of the sofa is dreamy...
Hello Greet,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, this color is very sensual and apart. I love the photo with the chandelier on it, very peaceful ...

Greet, again lovely pictures !Did you know that violet & purple colors are our favorite? As you say: these colors bring us in a particular mood...and indeed these colors do relax us but also brings lots of inspiration and creativity....Is that why we feel so inspired when spending the weekend in these colors..??
ReplyDeleteGreetings,

Ik heb paars/violet ooit een toegepast in mijn interieur, het gaf een hele bijzondere uitstraling. Het is een zeer aanwezige tint, de subtiele variant ( zacht violet) vind ik het mooist.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, ik was het afgelopen weekend in Brugge. We hebben gelogeerd in Bed and Breakfast "De Loverlij" ( zie foto's op mijn blog) misschien ken je het wel? Een aanrader!
How absolutely lovely.. Purple is one of my favorites. While growing up my and living with my grandma she had an entire purple bedroom- down to the carpeting! Amazing.. I think these are a little better - a little more relaxing!
ReplyDeleteBest,

In huis heb ik weinig paars, maar in de tuin vind ik het een heerlijke kleur! Mooie foto's!
ReplyDeleteLieve groetjes, Ingrid
I love the colors violet, and lavender and any color in the purple family. I've read and also know this to be a fact for me that the older one gets the more attracted they are to these colors. I also love perfume scented with violet.
ReplyDeleteKris
Gorgeous pictures. Mauve, lavender and violet seem to add a lusciousness to greys and zink too.
ReplyDeleteAnna
Love it! I just did a master bedroom with touches of dark purple. I'm about to add some beautiful violet touches to my bedroom. It is so difficult to find purple fabric!!!
ReplyDeleteSpirituality, harmony, creativity, peace! All the things that mean so very, very much to me. Merci, Greet I always feel that your posts arrive at exactly the right time...when I need them!
ReplyDeleteBisous,

Greet, thank you so much for sharing these wonderful pictures of my favourite colour :-) I just bought the softest, most beautiful lavender scarf - it almost makes me want winter to get here so I can wear it every day :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's the color or the fact these images are just so dreamy themselves. They're all so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAny lavender color for me + it is on my website. Thank you Greet. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteI'm not normally a purple girl but these are just beautiful!!

ReplyDeleteHi Sis!
ReplyDeleteOOOHH!!!!!!! So much to catch up on!!!!!!! I got back from my trip and started right into Antiques weeks here........I am going crazy...... LOVED your Violet blog,,,, it is the up and coming color mixed with gray saw a lot of it mixed with "figue" at the show. Yes this put me in a pretty great mood..........!!!!!xo Maryanne
When I was a teenager I wore every shade of lavender purple, and my favorite was a velvet jacket slightly darker than the sofa in your second photo. It was a creative time for me and one of PEACE, love & good vibes. Thankfully, it still attracts me!
ReplyDeleteIn the late 1950s, my mother reupholstered her c1940s living room furniture in silks and tapestries in shades of lavender, purple and blue. The room was stunning. Most of that furniture is still in the family -- reupholstered. I redid the wing chair in gray velvet. I guess I am not as daring as my mother was.
ReplyDeleteI love that first image with the velvet worn off of what looks like a Louis XVI chair...and the figs. Then again, what's not to love.
Best...Victoria
Oh Greet, you will not believe...that first picture of the purple velvet chair? I have had that picture in my files for a long time and I will be using it in my new header! Isn't this a great color?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy a wonderful fall weekend! Anita
Beautiful images Greet. For me it would have to be 'just a touch' Pillows, flowers, etc. That chair is scrumptious!
ReplyDeletexo
Lovely lavender and pretty purple, Greet! I adore the worn velvet in the first picture and of course the natural figs in the last. It was a soothing and inspiring post! Hope you have perfect lavender skies for the weekend!
ReplyDeleteViolet is not a typical color in my palette, and yet the accents look wonderful in the interiors you are showing. However now thinking of it, when I was a kid I had many aubergine color crayons who where my favorite ones. Might investigate what mood the color violet brings me in
ReplyDeleteNog een prettig weekend Greet daar in België,
Johan
Yes, these muted tones of Violet are very comforting and restful... it does bring Peace to the Spirit.

Lilac, violet and purple are my favorite. I'm even a big fan of Prince because he likes purple.
ReplyDeleteDELICIOUS GREET! I love violet and amethyst lately too…I just bought a sultanabad rug with small touches of violet and I can't wait to install it in my family room.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
I associate violet with the color of royalty. It has a presence that always makes me turn and look. The Linda Chase image is specatcular! The figs - Yummy!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
John
Oh Greet...You have made me fall in love with lavender. I want that crusty chair in the first image with the velvet upholstery...and the huge frame...love it. Hope all is well with you my friend, and have a great weekend. Mona
ReplyDeleteYes.. Isn't that the truth. I'm seeing violet everywhere..
ReplyDeleteI'm especially loving it in velvets.. You seemed to have found
a few delicious images..
really lovely.
elizabeth
Thank you Greet for including my figs in your beautiful violet post....all the images are superb and I must say I love a touch of violet too....Have a wonderful weekend....xv
ReplyDeleteGroetjes,
Liliane
Hi Greet!
ReplyDeletePurple has such a magical quality when done right! I love your examples, especially love the faded purple velvet alongside that timeworn gilded wood in the first photo and the moody photo of vicki's figs. Such a dreamy post.
xo isa
Amazing! I am very pleased to see that.
