Desingers Kay Douglass  & Kelly Wearstler featured in Dutch magazine.

It doesn’t happen that often that international designers are featured in Dutch or Belgian Interior & Lifestyle magazines.

The magazine MORE THAN CLASSIC is a gorgeous pestigious magazine about international living and is one of my favorite magazines.

A few months ago there was a photoshoot of my home to be published in one of the next issues. I am so looking forward to see the result!

The article of the Atlanta based designer Kay Douglass drawed my attention!

The cover of the latest Dutch Interior & Lifestyle Magazine MTC (More Than Classic) shows the living room of the house of Kay Douglass.

cover-mtc Cover Magazine More Than Classic, issue 2011/3

1 House of Kay Douglass at the first pages of the magazine’s article, titled “Belgian chic in Georgia”.

The article tells about the house of Kay Douglass, that is built in the Tudor style mixed with European, and in particular Belgian design elements.

Notice the steel windows of the house! And the brick façade looks as if it was ever painted and as if time has peeled off the paint slowly. The exterior of the house is imperfect. As Kay says , it has a ‘crunchy’ look.

Kay’s living room has indeed the characteristics of a Belgian living room : linen slipcovered chairs, stained wooden doors, the stools and the chandelier.

Kay explains that the Belgian style is of a great importance to her design work. She travelled to Europe for the first time in 1999 and came back to the US with a container full of Belgian furniture and accessories, although she hadn’t no idea where to place them! A few days after, she opened her store South of Market.

Ever since she frequently travels to Europe and loves to visit Paris, Brussels and Antwerp.

‘The Belgians have an approach that appeals to me : beautiful, luxurious but not overdone.’, Kay explains. And she loves the style of Axel Vervoordt, who is giving re-birth to discarded items.

  2. Goede morgen lieve Greet! Oh how I am loving so much these neutral colors; my home does not have any bright colors and I try to stay away from things that are imitation....meaning that I try to keep VINTAGE or antique. OPTION ONE IT IS! Oh so lovely dearest, so YOU!

Enjoy a beautiful summer day in BELGIUM!! Anita
