Last week I had an appointment with the representative of LIBECO, our world-known company for Belgian linen. It was a few months ago since he visited and I really needed some information about new linens, especially about the Libeco Home Collection, table and bed linen.
I am always surprised about all these beautiful, different textures and range of colors ! I just love the natural touch of our Belgian linen.
Since Axel Vervoordt introduced us to the linen slipcovers for seats and chairs, a lot of designers started to work with linen.
In Belgian interiors you will see linen used for draperies and blinds, for seating upholstery, table, bed and bath linen.
I am not aiming to tell you about the history of linen today, I want you to give some ideas how to use linen in your interior.
But if you want to know more about the flax’ history you will find a lot to read at the LIBECO website HERE.
Diane Dorrans Seaks of the Style Saloniste blog wrote a very interesting blogpost about Belgian linen HERE ! It is a most interesting article to read!

Growing up in the Belgian area, known for the linen industry, will definitely explain my love for linen.
Our orangery where I used linen for the draperies and the slipcovered seats.

Our living room with linen upholstered seats.
I really love the combination of natural materials as here in our library, a combination of an oak woodpaneling and a linen upholstered seat.
There is a wide range of colors and textures available in linen fabrics.
And did you know that from the moment you order a certain number of meters, the LIBECO company will dye the linen in your particular chosen color!!!
So, linen can be used for all your window treatment.

One of my favorite colors is celadon. Libeco offers a lot of shades of celadon linen. The Garnier’s sofa with a celadon slipcover.
We all know by now that Axel Vervoordt introduced us to the linen slipcovered seating. Some of the images below show you different styles of seating, all with a linen slipcover.

And finally I want to introduce you to a very beautiful blog about linen, ‘LINENS by didriks’, where you will find a lot of interesting information about Belgian linen!
I hope you enjoyed my post of today!

Wow, I just bought 20 yards of linen from this company in a chocolate brown and I love it!!!! I always figured if you want the best go buy it from the country that makes it and Belgium has the best! Beautiful images, thank you.
ReplyDeleteGreet,
ReplyDeleteThis is how a real post should be! You have one of the most informative blogs that I've ever read. That's why I keep coming back here, because I know you care about your blog, you don't simply throw something here, you work on it, you give your time and talent to it and I admire you for it.

Gracious Greet: An absolutely delicious post! I want to visit Belgium! You make it irresistible! I love the images you post and I have to admit that more and more, you are influencing my aesthetic frame work. Thank you for bringing such fabulous things for us to visually savour...
ReplyDeleteHello dear Greet,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post! I LOVE linen, it is so expensive, though. I recently got a piece for free, 2 meter wide and two meters long and I bleached it, I was so afraid I would ruin it, but it was originally a pinky beige and I would never have used it the way it was. It looks much like the oyster color now, it is so soft and lovely. I haven't decided what I will do with it. I wish I had about 20 meters more of it, I would make some great window treatments.
Thank you for the chance to see more of your beautiful home, it is so gorgeous. All of the images are very beautiful, great post.
Love and hugs, Cindy
Fantastic comprehensive post. i have worked with Libeco for the past 10 years, all my floor samples, outdoor fabrics are done with Libeco fabric and i rep their bedding as well.Just love the quality and texture of their fabrics.

ReplyDeleteWow - so many beautiful images - one more than the next. I do love linen - I actually have several pieces covered in linen - but all printed. I think it is the ultimate in understated chic. I will have to come back to this post to reread and explore all the links!
ReplyDeleteWhat a post Greet. I will be dreaming about Libeco tonight!
ReplyDeleteI think that is yet another thing people from Belgium and Sweden have in common - linen. And the more raw and natural the better.
Your living room looks beautiful. Admit that you will turn that old cabinet of yours into a "Holiday Candy Store"!
Love to you,
Mon

ReplyDeleteHi Greet...thank-you for such a well written post....I have been working with linen for 25 years and of my pieces of furniture that I've kept (I sell most of it) the linen has held up beautifully.... I am so glad to see people using linen again...it seemed for quite awhile people were afraid of it, thinking it wouldn't hold up under usage....thank-you for posting such an informative article on the beauty and benefits of one of the most amazing fabrics....maureen
ReplyDeleteThank you Greet for this wonderful post! I love linen ! Je me suis régalée !

Dankjewel!
Fijne week!
Lieve groet, Helena
