A Jacobean Tudor House in Charlotte, North Carolina

In the latest issue of the French Magazine ‘Maisons de Campagne’, I discovered an article about a gorgeous house in Charlotte, North Carolina. I was so overwhelmed by the pictures of this house that I definitely wanted to know more about the architect of this beautiful house. Ruard Veltman is his name. His company Ruard Veltman Architecture is located in Charlotte, North Carolina.

I do recommend you to visit his website http://www.ruardveltmanarchitecture.com/. You will discover a lot of beautiful houses designed by his hand!

I have to say that in a lot these houses I felt the influence of European design and guess what…? I discovered that he is from Dutch origine!!

Here on below I show you the pictures that were published in the Maisons de Campagne Magazine and in addition I have post the pictures I found at the website of Ruard Veltman.

In the article was written that Ruard Veltman had designed the house in close cooperation with the New Orleans interior designers Ann Dupuy and Eugénie Gibbens. I did not found further information about them. If there is someone who knows more about these designers, please let me know.

Image 2 Normallly you will find dark coloured ceiling beams in a Jacobean styled house, but here the beams are finished with a bright colour and together with the carpet and the coffee table, is brought in a contemporary touch.

Foto 3 Image 3 To achieve a real contrast between the perfect geometrical windows, the designers have chosen for a country styled dining table.

  1. Ruard Veltman is one of my favorite architects. His firm's work is absolutely amazing. And I love that house. I'm happy to see more of it from the French magazine.

I'm not sure if you know, but Ruard used to work for Bobby McAlpine and also attended Auburn University in Alabama.

I too have tried to find information about Ann Dupuy and Eugénie Gibbens. After finding this house on Ruard's website last year, I went hunting for info on the designers and didn't have any luck. Hopefully one of your readers will know.

  7. Oh Greet,
I wish you could obtain an invitation to visit this home!!! I have image #7 in my files, but most of the others are new to me. All so stunning! One thing that struck me were the wall sconces shown in the last 2 images of the window seating. I have either the same or very similiar sconces. However, my shades however are belgian linen! :) Perhaps, I need pale aqua too.

  10. Such inspiration...begin with fine architecture and then exquisite interior design and you just can't go wrong. If I could transport it to Santa Barbara, I would be ready to move right in.

  12. Ann Dupuy is a well-known New Orleans' interior designer. Her firm is Holden & Dupuy Interior Design, otherwise known as the 'Two Anns': Ann Holden & Ann Dupuy. Their work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Southern Accents, House Beautiful, Met Home, Veranda, Elle Decor, Cottage Living, etc. They are known for their taupe and cream, i.e. neutral interiors. Very sophisticated and beautiful designers.

Here is a link to an article on this same home, featured in the March-April 2007 issue of Southern Accents:

  14. I love, love, love this house...one of my favorites (have kept the article from when it was in Southern Accents magazine a couple of years ago). The designers are indeed from New Orleas but I believe have no website, etc. I think Ann Dupuy did the interiors for the Cottage Living Idea House in New Orleans a few years ago.

  25. This architectual firm is currently building a home in my neighborhood. It is more traditional in design and I believe going to be very beautiful. The house is directly behind mine so I get to see and hear the construction daily. I would say it is at the 50% completion stage.
