The make-over of my brother's office


Some of you do know yet that I run our company Lefèvre Interiors together with my youngest brother Stefaan.

A few months ago, my brother needed to move his office to another area in our company buildings. But the only place available, was an old storage room!

So my brother asked me to make a proposal to renovate this place into his new office! A challenge of course!

So I started making a few designs and after my brother's approval, we could finally start the production of the cabinetry in our workplaces.

We decided to leave the place open to the peak of the roof so that the construction beam was integrated in the interior concept.

The picture of sight 1 (above) shows the inside of the cabinet, where a lot of files can be hidden.

The wood we used for the cabinetry is european oak. And for the desk, we have chosen for a table in an exotic type of wood. And as hardware we used these furniture knobs.

I love to use some modern lighting in an office room.

To me an office needs to be very cosy because most people ( certainly my brother) spend a lot of time in this room. So to add warmth , I have chosen for a shade of orange for the lime paint on the walls and even for the blinds.
Our painter mixed the paint as long as he needed to become the same colour as the Belgian linen, chosen for the blinds.

On every wall there are seen spotlights.

On this window you can notice wooden blinds. They provide a functional and a decorative feature to add warmth and variation. They filter the light in a subtle way.

My brother is a piano player and wanted to bring in the piano into his office.
So where there was the entrance door before, is now standing his piano.

    Hi Greet...I really love the color you chose for the plaster, and the curtain above. I can see how it would add warmth even on the grayest day. I love the oval window, the glassed in office entrance...is this an exterior entrance? or interior part of the office building? Thank you for the before and after shots. Always love those. Trish

    Please let me move in to this office, love it....Love the 2 round windows, and all the built in cabinets.....It's no fun to work in my office after I have seen this....buhuuu...You are very talented!

    Very nicely done, love the walls. It's a very nice place to work in, i work in a glass tower, so have the view, but not the nice textures like in this office.

    There is just so much to love about this new office ~ but I will limit my comment to my favorite element ~ the entry. Love the outer glass enclosure, the door and the oval windows. It looks fabulous from both sides and on the inside it is so beautifully highlighted by the wall color.

    Greet, I have attempted several times to email you about this fabulous blog, but each time the email is returned "undeliverable". First of all Belgian Pearls is a must read for me daily and I wait with great anticipation to each entry. Your brother's office was a wonderful transformation. I am particularly interested in knowing if you used the armoire that was pictured in the storage room in any way in the final design. I have an armoire very much like it which I purchased in Eeklo many years ago and I used it to store audio equipment in my library. I would be interested in knowing more about this particular piece.
